John began his legal career as a litigation associate at Rogers & Wells in New York. There, he worked on a variety of matters including libel, director and officer insurance coverage, trademarks and contracts. His desire to continue to work on a broad array of legal issues led him to the general commercial litigation practice of ARY's predecessor. John's areas of experience include commercial foreclosures, loan workouts and restructures, contracts, insurance litigation, restrictive covenants, real estate litigation and estate litigation.

John has handled trials and appeals in the state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations and mediations in other forums. John is also qualified and has served as an arbitrator in the Small Claims Court in New York City. Reported decisions include: Staples v. W.J.R. Associates, 2007 WL 1038523 (E.D.N.Y. 2007), granting summary judgment dismissing claims and awarding sanctions; Federal Deposit Insurance Co. v. Four Star Holding Co., 178 F.3d 97 (2d Cir. 1999), a matter of first impression for the Second Circuit where the Court held that federal jurisdiction was not lost in a foreclosure action commenced by the FDIC after the FDIC assigned the loan at issue to a private entity; Murphy v. Reardon, 211 A.D.2d 714, 621 N.Y.S.2d 894 (2d Dept. 1995), rejecting parol evidence as insufficient to overcome the clear terms of a promissory note; and In re Intelligent Bank Management, Inc. (East Coast Financial Corporation), 207 A.D.2d 760, 616 N.Y.S.2d 618 (1st Dept. 1994), applying the doctrine of de facto corporate existence.
