Joe has been involved in numerous cases involving real estate finance issues. Joe was selected as a 2007 New York Super Lawyer in the field of Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights. He also handles complex commercial and intellectual property matters, such as disputes between shareholders of closely held corporations, stock valuation proceedings and patent, trademark and copyright infringement cases. Joe has extensive trial experience, having conducted numerous jury and non–jury trials in federal and state courts and arbitrations in various forums. He has served as chairman of American Arbitration Association arbitration panels and has been appointed by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York as receiver and trustee in complex business disputes. In addition to his litigation practice, Joe represents several of the firm's business clients in various corporate matters. In this area, Joe has negotiated and drafted numerous stockholders and partnership agreements, commercial leases and a wide variety of other contracts. Joe has also done work in the securities area, including S.E.C. filings. Joe lives in New Rochelle with his wife Peri Schwartz, the artist.
